Watching this video, it's especially clear how our presence and responsiveness is so important to the security and development to our children. That makes sense. But less obvious is what this means in context of our own childhoods. Many of us have had parents who weren't able to be consistently aware and responsive to our needs as we grew up. This effects us in our adult lives...how we're in relationships, our feelings of safety vs. insecurity in the world, our ability to ask for what we need, our communication style, and base anxiety level. Seeing this helps us understand how and why we may have healing to do. It informs the way we are partners to our spouses. And we can heal and adjust the way we understand the world and our place in it.
